On January 8, 1956, Jim Elliot, Pete Fleming, Ed McCully,
Nate Saint, and Roger Youderian were killed by the Waorani Indians
(referred to at the time as the Auca Indians of Ecuador). The
Americans visited the remote Indian people to try and begin an evangelistic
ministry. The news of the men's death attracted world-wide attention. Later, Saint's sister Rachel and Elliot's widow Elisabeth worked with the
Waorani convert Dayuma to establish the beginning of a Christian community. |

The life and death of Jim Elliot was a
testimony of a man committed to the will of God. He sought God's will,
pleaded for it, waited for it, and—most importantly—obeyed it. His
martyrdom at age twenty-eight and subsequent books on his life by his former
wife, Elisabeth Elliot, have been the catalyst for sending thousands into
the mission fields and stoking the fires of a heart for God. He
was an intense Christian, bent on pleasing God alone and not man. |

In 1994, a musical / drama was written to tell this story
from the book, "Through Gates of Splendor," and is titled, "At Any Cost."
During these years, we have been humbled to see God use this
story to literally bring thousands of teens and hundreds of
adults to a first time acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior. In
addition, discouraged pastors have been encouraged to continue on, adults
have made decisions to go as full-time missionaries or rededicate their
lives and seven of the "At Any Cost," team members have made
decisions for full-time Christian service. Only God knows the full
impact of this tremendous story! |
