On January 8, 1956, deep in the Amazon jungle of Ecuador, Jim Elliot and four missionary co-workers were brutally murdered by a tribe of Stone Age Indians called the Aucas. Within a year and a half of this horrible tragedy, Jim's widow, Elisabeth Elliot wrote the book, Through Gates of Splendor. Romans 8:28 tells us that, "God works for the good of those who love him and have been called according to His purpose." This real life story is the perfect example of this promise; tragedy was turned into victory!

In 1994, a drama/musical At Any Cost was written to tell this story from the book, Through Gates of Splendor. Since 1994 until today, dozens of churches in California, Oregon, Texas and Washington have featured the At Any Cost story during their mission conferences. It was presented to 20,000 teenagers at Hume Lake Christian Camp in '97 and '99. Also in '97 and '99, HCJB World Radio in Quito, Ecuador invited the At Any Cost team to bring this powerful story of God's love, sacrifice and forgiveness to Ecuador and to Costa Rica. The drama and music were translated into Spanish and this incredible story was presented in schools, churches, prisons and to the #1 professional soccer team in Ecuador. In 2001 the team went to South Africa co-hosted by HCJB  and CCFM Radio where this life-changing story was shared in churches, schools (public and Christian high schools and universities), retirement homes, and prisons (including the prison where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated). At Any Cost was invited to India in the summer of 2002. The trip was postponed due to the imminent threat of war between India and Pakistan. The team traveled and ministered to over 2,100 people in the United Kingdom from June 13 - July 7, 2003.  The trip was hosted by HCJB - United Kingdom.

2005 At Any Cost Team

From 1998 till the present, approximately once a month during the school year the team is busy presenting in churches and schools in Northern California. An exciting part of the team's ministry has been the opportunity to go to three different public high schools! Christian groups can legally go onto public school campuses if invited by a school club.

Since 1994, we have been humbled to see God use this story to literally bring thousands of teens and hundreds of adults to a first time acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior. In addition, discouraged pastors have been encouraged to continue on, adults and young people have made decisions to go as full-time missionaries or rededicate their lives and seven of the At Any Cost team members have made decisions for full-time Christian service. Only God knows the full impact of this tremendous story!
